Marguerite Roberts |
Sixty-Eight percent of retired
teachers were getting less than $5000 per year in pension. |

A mail strike
prevented the Annual Meeting and Ms. Roberts stayed on for another year. |

1975-1976 |
Mr. Trevithick
was Principal of both St. Thomas Collegiate Institute and the new Central
Elgin Collegiate Institute at the same time when CECI was first opened. |

1976-1977 |
Mr. Cuyler
sent out the first ever Newsletter in 1973! |

1977-1978 |
During her Presidency,
"soon-to-be-retired" teachers were invited to a social with retired
members for the first time. |

1978-1979 |
Membership fee rose 100% to two
dollars annually. |
|
|
1979-1980 |
During her presidency, she
hosted five executive meetings, complete with lunch, in her home. |
|

1980-1981 |
Executive Meeting lunches
continued in his home and he also instigated retirement seminars in

Mr. Phoenix taught in a flying

Ms. Orchard was a teacher for 37 years and was
President on two separate years _ one as President of |

Ms. Penhale
taught student nurses at |

Ms. Carter taught at Arthur Voaden and Parkside. She
was also Vice-President of District 8 in 1986 and was involved with the three
way division which took place during this time. |

Ms. Munroe received a
Governor-General's Medal in 1993. At the end of her year as President,
District 8 9London), voted to split, thereby forming
District 37, Oxford-Elgin. |

1986-1987 |
Ms. Armour
was instrumental in forming the new District 37 Oxford-Elgin and was its
first President. |

1987-1988 |
Ms. McNaughton
was one of the "train kids" who rode the |

Ms. Orchard's second Presidency
saw membership increase. |

Mr. Haight went to |

was the First President of the newly-formed District 41 |

Ms. Watson also served for
many years as the secretary and is currently a Vice-President of the

the District 41 Annual Golf Tournament and Dinner. |

Ms. Wren continues to serve on
the local executive as well as the Provincial Service to Others Committee. |

Mr. Murray retired as a
Superintendent with the Thames Valley District School Board,
served many years as a Councillor for the Town of

Ms. Cameron brought her considerable experience as President of the Elgin County Women's Teacher Federation to District 41. |
